A knife gift for a non-knife person

I am sure there are plenty of chats about this but I think each case is semi unique. I am looking to gift a knife to a office worker friend of mine who is not really into knives. I would think that CV may be too much care for him to take care of a knife but I am not 100% sure yet. What knife would you gift a non-knife person in Canada to increase the odds that he will use it and carry it around.

Cheers,

Hi, My first choice would be a Case Peanut in stainless. Second would be a Case Mini Copperhead with a clip main blade.

As much as I dislike the nail file on the SAK alox Cadet, I am inclined to think that for a non-knife person, a brightly colored red or silver Cadet would pass muster even by the most PC; and it's perfectly sized and non-threatening. SAK's have always been that kind of knife...non-threatening.

SAK classic or a case peanut in stainless. Like the guys before me said. These would fit the bill.
:)

Although, my wife (non-knife person) glanced over my shoulder at my laptop screen once and commented "hey that one's cute" or something like that. So I ended up getting her a green bone Rough Rider tiny toothpick which she loves and uses at home (I can't convince her to carry it. - "that's what I have you for!" - says she).

This or something like a LM Micra. My wife has always been a non-knife person. I got her a Micra a couple years ago and she loved it. Picked her up a pink Baby Butterbean for Christmas and she fell in love with it pretty quick. Got her a pink Vic Cadet a couple months ago. She uses it almost everyday. She has never been into hunting or anything outdoors but for kicks I showed her a pink Queen hunting knife yesterday and she immediately said she wanted it, lol. I'm not going to get it just yet but it may make a good gift this Christmas. I think she's hooked.

Maybe an Opinel Chaperon - they're visually quite interesting and might get their interest on an aesthetic level, as well as being solid quality.

If the knife gift is not for a very special occasion, and you know this person well enough, do it this way: ask him to lend you his keys, and put a SAK Classic (choose the color appropriately) on his keys while you show him the tools. This way, he will probably keep it there, until the opportunity comes and he realizes he has the right tool there :)
This system has worked for me for at least two gifts ;)

My immediate thought was a Case SS peanut. However, I would say to make sure that it's a pretty light pull. My wife had no interest in carrying a knife until she saw my Schrade 12OT. She could pinch the blade open pretty easily, and that's what sold her. I haven't been able to get it back from her since. Maybe a small lockback Buck 505.

If he's an outdoorsy type, a SAK Pioneer or Farmer.

If he's more of a office guy, an Alox Cadet or Stainless Peanut would be my choice.

I just gave away an sak to a friend who will be going off to college soon. basic one with 2 blades, bottle, and can opener. cant really go wrong with the combination and its size makes it a perfect college tool or urban survival knife for the non knife nut. also, I got a zippo as a gift from him. does that count as a coin?

Something Medium-Large keychain size with scissors and a bottle opener and crap.
There's lots of choices that meet these qualifications and we all know what they are ;)
Go shop, yo.

Another vote for a SAK. You can choose the model according to the tools he'd be most likely to use. I bought a classic for my mom recently. She likes it, and she doesn't like sharp knives.

I've given many SAK Classic and Alox Cadet knives to non-knife people. They always seem to be well received.

Or the Victorinox floral knife or day packer. Then if he takes to it you can think about something you consider more traditional that he might like and use.
