A knife returns to its owner?

I had a cold steel secret edge acquired in a lot purchase on the 'Bay last summer and it was taking up space and not my style so I went back and listed it to get rid of it. Listed at 1 red cent because it was a beater and inconsequential, to me at least. I thought to myself "Man, I don't think this will sell. Not anytime soon, at least." I was wrong! Within an hour I got a $10 offer.

The guy asks "Hey, you don't work for the TSA, do you?" I don't. He goes on to say that this knife was confiscated at LaGuardia. The knife lot I purchased was from NY. I am in Hawaii. I'm not sure if it is actually his but I thought I would share this tale with you all. I'm going to throw in another knife just to add some love.

That's a neat story... I wonder if it was confiscated because he had it on him going through the checkpoint (or forgot it was in a carry on) or out of his checked luggage?

There's usually the option of mailing it home from the checkpoint. They have little mailing envelopes. The only trick is to bring enough stamps, but since I usually travel with at least a flat book of stamps somewhere on me, I can't imagine mailing 5 or 6 ounces worth of knife would pose a problem.
