Here it is, a beautiful HI kothimoda per specs with a half pound of very nicely worked silver. Knife made by Bura and as near perfect as you'll get with a handmade item. Know what's wrong with this khukuri? Take a look at this next picture.

The buttcap has been dinged -- right side, white arrow. This is a real heart breaker. Gelbu and Pradeep pack these kothimodas in so much bubble wrap and paper that the box could be thrown off a mountain and these knives would not suffer damage. But, trusty US customs inspected this rig and then stuck it back in the box sans wrapping and here is the result.

If you don't mind a little ding or think you might be able to repair the damage then save yourself $100 and take this kothimoda for $350.

Call or email if interested.

Khukuri FAQ

Uncle Bill, Customs' incompitence is your loss but our gain. This is a lot of knife for the money. And talk about an inconspicuous blem. I can't believe I'm the first one to respond to this, but I still just can't afford it. Sigh. The story of my life.

For the record, I would have grabbed this baby if my cash flow were a little more positive. Hope it finds a good home. I know there will be more good deals to come along.

I really can't complain though, with one of those village chiruwa siru's headed my way. Can't wait.

That is ridiculous. I know that you go above and beyond the call of duty in marking down your so-called "blems" (

), but to think that some idiot at the US Customs service just cost you $100 dollars gets my blood pressure up a tad.

Does Himilayan Imports have any recourse when this happens? I'm sure the Customs Service would point out that you don't HAVE to mark down the knife, but you would think that there is some method of recouping losses from poor work on their part.

PS are any forumites lawyers? Want a nice pro bono case? Err...whats knife in latin? Pro gladius?
