Ok, I really love my new little NRG but eventually want something more substantial. The NRG lured me back into EDCing folders and now I need something with a 3.5 inchish blade.

Out of the: Lahar, Blur, Groove, Large NRG, Cyclone, and JYD which is you favorite? (in terms of sharpness and ergos)

I have only handled a Blur and a JYD.

Photos of comparisons are appreciated!

Thanks for helping a new member of the Kershaw Knut society!

mmm, I have the Blur (S30V), Groove, big ENER-G(s), Cyclone(s), and the Ti/SG2 JYD II. The SG2 JYD II and the ENER-G were the sharpest out of the box, hands down. My ENER-G gets 99% of all pocket time, and I find its the perfect size for an EDC folder. The SG2 JYD is extremely sharp, but it's bigger size keeps it for only certain excursions. Ergos are great on both, but for some reason, I really like the big ENER-G the best. After a few months, the trac-tec inserts have worn down a little, and it's much friendlier on the pocket materials. If I can find a few minutes tonight or tomorrow, I'll post up some pics...

Now if I can only find the Blur in SG2...and if you happen to run across a Mini Cyclone Ti/ZDP, grab it...you won't regret that purchase!

Thanks for the advice! I always like to handle a knife before I buy it. Hopefully I can handle a few more of the ones on my list in time.

Out of those I would choose the Lahar. It has the best steel, and I love the looks of it. I've also heard it comes very sharp out of the box.

The only thing that troubles me about the Lahar is possible ergo issues. I'm not sure it would fit my medium hands well. Can anyone reassure me on this?

All the knives you mention are great but for me it would come down to the large ENER-G and the SG2 Blur. The ENER-G 2 feels good in hand and is a substantial knife without being bulky in any way, not to mention it is the easiest and slickest production flipper I've ever used. The SG2 Blur incredibly sharp with the laminate steel, to go along with all the other goodness in that model.

EDIT: added a few pics for you to get some size comparison...

Thanks for the size comparisons. If I can handle a Large ENER-G I think I may get that. Although, knowing myself, I may handle a Lahar or some other model and need that one! :D
