Spent last week in Sedona with my wife hiking everyday and enjoying all the scenery and fresh air. I was constantly amazed at the people I passed on the trail who were wearing flip flops, sandals, etc., packing no water, nor anything else in preparation for an opportunity.
I hope all of those people made it safely back!
Even my wife was astounded at the lack of preparation exhibited by some of these hikers. A father of four young girls, all teens, hiking 2 miles from the nearest place of residence - with nothing more than one 16oz bottle of water for the 6 of them - hiking in flip flops with nothing more than the t shirts they were wearing. I even offered them some extra water as I was on my way out - but they had plenty
Things happen - just incredible
Oh, and the people that were wearing those non traction soles were always the one's closest to the edge of the cliffs
I just had to look away at times
Maybe I am overkill from the time I spent in the scouts? I am convinced something needs to be done to educate these people - but how do we do it?
