Well, not so much as a pffffttt from the LHC from wayward black holes/singularity/strangelets (personally, I think Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle is gonna muck up the quest for Higg's bosom, er, boson).

There was however another suposed September event sometime back in the early 80's during the Cold War that came this close to starting WW3.

Remember the Gene Hackman/Danzel Washington starrer "Crimson Tide"?

Holy Crud! I still am trying to grasp the strangelet thing (bad electrical generating equipment is mucking up the LHC more than any of Heisenberg's principles - Murphy's Law is what's saving our butts), but I sure understand MAD!

I tell ya, I am so happy I am one of God's own and a child of Jesus Christ!!!
As mentally irregular as I am, if I wasn't the above and knew what the future held, I would have gone zen grade postal years ago!!!!
Do you folks actually worry about this crap or is it just something to jabber about? :D

Er, yes, "Murphy's Law" can muck-up the equipment, but Heisenberg's principle has more to do with the discovery/analysis of the so-called "God-particle" (Higg's Boson).

Heisenberg's wife: "Ernst, what's wrong with the cat? It looks half-dead?"

Physics humor.

Sorry, dry humor doesn't always work well over the internet.

What is "zen"? What is "worry"? What is being a child of God?

Can not answer what is Zen, but Worry is building a bridge over a river that we may never have to cross. Being a child of God is having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and asked for forgiveness for our sins' by His Grace, not by works are we saved.

My dad was a missile tech in the U.S. Navy in the 1960's-'70's, back when we first put launching systems on subs. You guys wouldn't believe the number of things that can go wrong; and this isn't just subs, but the whole nuke triad: bombers, ICBM's, and ballistic missile subs; not to mention nuclear artillery, etc.

And this was no Hollywood hype, either; this was things that could have TRULY gone wrong, and brought about a war.

I think it is truly an Act of God that the world didn't end in nuclear war during that time.

thx - cpr

Outstanding James!!!!!!
As for my use of the term "zen grade", ya either get it or ya don't!
Odabo Jack!
In case you don't know, "odabo" is a Yoruba word used in Nigeria that means "Goodbye"! :D

Pretty hairy story. Bet there are a WHOLE lot of near-misses of various magnitudes that are still classified.

We say "paalam" in my native toungue with a warm smile and a wish for a safe journey -

Looking at its form, they see it's formlesness. . .

is not seen

Tomorrow is promise to no man. I walk with Jesus. His pain, our gain. Thanks for letting me share, I do not wish for end times, but I do not fear it. Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom for man.

I met Leo Buscaglia, he used to live in Pasadena CA in late 80s. Very caring individual.
