I know quite a few of the folks here worry about upsetting people by carrying a BBBB (big bad black blade) in public. Understandable enough as I would worry if someone I didn't know suddenly pulled out a BBBB in a social setting and started flipping the blade open and such. I found a nice answer tho for Sundays and weddings and other high-faluting situations.

I just got a new knife from AG Russel and it is not only a real looker but a real cutter as well. These are done by Hiro Zipangu and are available in five different scenes. The blades are a VG 10 laminate (in the pics you can see the line from the center core of VG 10) 2 inches long with plenty of belly for cutting, with an overall length of 3 1/8th. The size is perfect for social situations and is still large enough to hold onto. While I know some here are not fond of liner locks in general this one is both stout and unique in design. If you look at the pic of the lock you will see the liner not only blocks the back of the blade but actually comes over the bottom as well locking it on 2 surfaces instead of the standard one. This blade does not move at all once opened yet still is easily closed one handed. This will definately be my Sunday go-to-meetin' knife from now on.

My pics don't do this knife justice, very hard to photograph a round surface with out getting some reflection.

That's a sweet little piece.....congratulations...looks VERY handsome and well-made.

.....and you and I know....it's not so much about liner-locks as how they're executed. Plenty of good liner-lock knives out there....and I'd say you've got a fine one right there. ;)

I wouldn't think even the biggest knife-a phobic could find fault with this one, it is hard to tell from a pic but the scale really is a work of art. The more I look at it the more the detail stands out. The rounded scale gives it depth as well. I am almost tempted to buy the other four in the series and put them under glass...lol.

Great looking knife. Very sheeple friendly. Prices were lower then I would have guessed.

I still like a SAK for sheeples. Even women asked about all the "thingamajigs" on my CyberTool Lite.

I have a Rainbow Chive for just such occasions. Not going to scare anyone except the hard core paranoid and a couple of women I've shown it to think it's "pretty".

Did you take the AO spring out of the chive? I've always wanted a leek or a chive but wondered how the knife would work without the AO spring.

Lucky for me i live in southern alabama you can take your big bad black blade to church and nobody cares. There are not a whole lot of sheeples down here. Thank god for that.Although i usualy carry a kershaw scallion. (olive drab in color)

Nope, all intact.

I suspect it got through customs simply because it's so small and inoffensive looking. They probably just gave it a quick glance and let it go.

You could try ordering one but no guarantees if you'll actually get it or not.

My pastor led a marine rifle company in Vietnam. He likes knives. So I pretty much carry what I want and always show him my latest toy.

But that is an exquisite piece of art and I agree that no one would say boo about it no matter where they went to church.

Very nice

One thing I do like about living in the south is that I have never ran into a "sheeple." I carry what ever I want to where ever I want. At work our vice president carrys a kershaw clipped to his right pocket.

It's not uncommon to see most guys with clips, 110 sheaths, even fixed around here. If I go to open a box in front of somebody, I normaly get "what a cool looking knife." "My dad use to carry a knife all the time too." (Last line mostly from the ladies."

Actually, a small knife that's appealing and can be used is a challenge. It's also hard to make and a challenge to the cutler:thumbup:

The one I keep about me most of the time is a German Böker 1006 Stag lockback, 2" blade, about 2.5" handle in THICK stag. It's a beaut and tackles food prep and 'non threatening' tasks wonderfully. Thought I lost it last week:eek:but the rascal slipped through a hole in my jacket pocket and hibernated in the lining:D

Damn you Absintheur! I wasn't going to buy any knives this month! I just ordered the Fuji AND the Matsu folders. You're paying for the divorce! :D

Mmmmmm...I'm already divorced...ya think my knife buying habits may have had something to do with that?

I am going to end up with a complete set as well I think

Where I go to church, most of the guys carry knives, the ladies know it and ask to borrow them frequently, and we carry the same things we carry to work, 3" - 4" bladed CRKTs, Spydercos, Benchmades, and Gerbers.

A few guys carry a smaller SAK or Buck, but I haven't run into anybody that's purposely down-sized just for church. But those are very nice looking knives and A G Russell is one of my favorite dealers.

Among the people I know here in the heart of Indiana dressing nice for special occasions is the rule. For us this even extends to the daily tools we all carry, even if they may not be seen by most folks. This includes carrying the best looking knife you own and even you best looking handgun. At a friends wedding recently I bet there were more complete coverage engraved handguns than you would see at a gun show, all proudly and openly carried at the reception. My church is a bit more conservative than that but the idea is the same. And there is always the chance you will get to take out that purty knife for a chore and hear the oohs and ahhs.

Looks like a well made little gentleman's knife - reasonably priced, as well.
