Well...the long drive from Michigan to Tennessee affords me a few opportunities for walks to see what the summer has produced. One one walk I noticed lots of these trees, anyone know what we're looking at?

Yeah, and mother nature is definitely not a segregationist :)

I live in Cincinnati, I believe we call those "snot berries". The name comes from the texture when you pop them. I have no idea what they actually are.

The first pics are poison sumac trees, the second pics are wild grapes. In natures supermarket edible and toxic can be found on the same shelf :)

Beautiful pictures, love the patina on the knife as well. That isn't a blueback is it?

Thank you. Nope, not a blueback, it's just a patina I sort of forced through excessive food prep.

Suspect that you are correct in your identification. Don't get Poison Sumac up here but it seems to look a darn sight much like Poison Ivy. Leaf shape and the white berries.

That's gorgeous. I've been trying the same with my O1 knife for almost a year now but it doesn't really change colour. Perhaps I clean it to often? I usually just rinse it off & wipe it dry after use.

Not a lot here in the Tennessee hills either, mostly above and below us. Very similar in appearance as well as structure, and in the same toxicodendron genus

Thank you, as much time as I spend in high-moisture / high-humidity environments, I like a good deep patina. I usually just leave it laying on the cutting board coating in the various juices until some time after I have eaten the meal I prepared, then just wash off the residue that was left.

Sometimes when I am on my phone I will miss a few posts that just don't even show up... Thank you, glad you liked them :)
