A little bit more 'stabby'.

Hello All,

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? So much inspiration from seeing the mods to Beckers here, made me dive right in without fear :)

I've learned so much about knives lately, 99% from THIS forum, for that I say thanks. Anyway, I think this is what you call making a knife "a little bit more stabby" :D

It was easy really, took my time, kept it cool. Finished off the spine with a 400 grit belt but kept it really squared off so as to work well with a ferro rod.

Next up is to build a sheath.....I have leather and tools inbound right now, should have next week. Just in time for Spring in the Shenandoah Valley, this will be my primary outdoors carry.

Thanks for looking!

I think the penny was a wedge to keep the spine square to the platen. Clever.
Great mod, and with only 12 posts - I think this one's going places, folks!

Looks great! Are you going to keep the stock handles or change them out?

I swapped the handles on my BK2 to wood, but I'm thinking I will keep the 16 stock. I have small girly hands and they fit well and are grippy enough.

Edit: I would like to add, after fondling the 16 for many hours I can definitely see where a thumb ramp on the side would be a good thing and that doesn't come stock!

I do plan to make my own handles soon, love working with wood also. But I am going to start small :p

The BK16 is a terrific small knife and it is my favorite for hunting. It is very easy to modify or can be kept stock and has very comfortable ergonomics. Your 16 looks good with your mods, nice work.

Of course I had to have an apple with dinner. The wife was like "I think the apple is dead now, you can take the knife out of it" :adoration:

Cool project, but I seem to have missed what you did. IT looked like from what you taped off that you were going to remove some metal, but then the last picture it does not look like you ground down to your tape. Did I miss it?

Probably the perspective in the picture.

You're correct, I removed the metal down to the tape line on the left side of the blade. I didn't remove a lot, but what I did gave the blade a little bit more of a spear point.
