Got this knife fitted together yesterday. Its got a 3 1/2" blade made out of an old shear steel saw blade. Its got a total length of 7" with wrought iron fittings and blackwood handle. I'll most likly be setting it up to be a neck knife.

The finish on the blade is the natural pattern of the shear steel. I wish I could take a better picture......

I think these are the best there going to get. I did use my tripod for a change. No oldman shakes this time.....

That is some purty grain. Beautiful little necker Ray.The rounded front portion of the guard goes perfect with the blade shape.

Love your work as always, particularly that steel. will be a sad dsay when(if?) you run out of that stuff, as I love the patterns you're geting on it

I've got a couple more blades that are ready to finish out of the shear steel. When I get around to forging more I'm going to limit the blade size to 3" or less. One of the really big pluses to forging is stretching the steel. If I remember correctly this blade started out from a piece of steel 4" X 3/4 X 3/16". The tang on this blade was long enough to go completly threw the handle.

nice looking Blade set up.
Ray you getting comfortable at driving that blade into the
guard now? is it good and tight? I'm thinkings once it cools it should make a good press fit.
I still like that.. :)

Dan, I've still got a little perfecting to do with the slot. Its tight but it could be better. Think it may have something to do with the way the wrought iron moves.
