I live in Southern Spain, near my workshop is a skip (dumpster) that builders use & when I pass it I can't help myself from looking at its contents just in case 😉 it's generally is full of builders rubble but anything can turn up in it.
A short time ago I picked up this old butter knife, nothing at all special but it made me smile when I read the faint makers mark, especially it being far away from home.

I thought I'd post it here where the mark might be appreciated.

Cutler's to his Majesty, so over 70 years old (as I imagine they are no longer in business else it'd be once again correct).
And Hygienic Stainless too. 👍

What a nice find.👍🏻

Any Idea what the handle is made of??

I don't know what it's called but I've seen it on literally thousands of pieces of old Sheffield cutlery, usually ivory to yellow colour and often having small splits along it's length, a kind of early synthetic material I presume.

Edit-. After a Google it looks like it's Celluloid or Parkesine.

Google; "A brand name for the first synthetic plastic composed of Cellulose nitrate plasticized with Camphor. Parkesine was patented in England in 1855 by Alexander Parkes and marketed as a substitute for Ivory. It was used for small objects, such as jewelery, buttons, fountain pens, and brush handles."

Thanks!! I was hoping it was ivory!! But a cool find!!
