well I received my 154cm edc back yesterday from warranty. The blade although the vertical play seems to be gone, there still is some lateral play in it. When you wiggle the blade back and forth you can here the lock rub against the tang.
well two weeks, or so, later and still a disappointment. My other edcs have never done this.:( and this it was a new one to begin with!!! never had even been sharpened, or used to cut anything more than a box open, or a thread. Ive wanted to carry it, but a blade with lateral play is not a solid knife.

Ive had a couple knives taken care of before so I do not think the customer service is bad by any means, but for some reason it did not get taken care. I have a d-2 edc that does not have an ounce of play in the blade in either direction, lateral or vertical. I do have another 154cm in my collection, but if I swapped it out (with that one) I would still have one that isnt right.
Oh well

rev jch,
Email sent. Alpha, you almost always can adjust any lateral play witht he adjustable pivot on the knife. If you ahve any further problems, give the customer service folks a call @ 800-344-0456. Thanks for being a customer!

I think that the problem is with the locking area or the stop pin. There's vertical play no matter what I do to the stop pin or pivot pin. The lock bar doesn't contact the locking surface unless I hold the knife. It just springs out to its full extension, and I can move the blade up and down ever so slightly. The lock moves a little bit over to the right when I'm holding the knife properly, so it's not a safety problem.

You're right about the lateral play though, I just took care of that and put some Loctite on the pivot.

I'll give Customer Service a call if the vertical play isn't fixed by the Loctite.

The only thing loctite will do is keep the screw from coming out of adjustment, not cure your blade play, unless the problem is that the pivot screw is backing out (causing the play).

Will called me at home last night on his own time!! he is taking care of the problem!!! :)

Yep, I was going to see if the vertical play was being caused by a slight backing out of the pivot screw. Still had play after the Loctite had cured, so I thought some more.

Since I could cure the vertical play by squeezing the handle (and thus pressing the lock bar further in), I just took the knife apart and gently bent the bar a little. Got this tip from an older post on this forum. Now it's fixed; gotta love that snap when it locks open.
