As the thread title says I'm a little disappointed with an article in the June issue of Blade. Maybe I'm making to much out of it, you tell me. The first of what will be a series of "Bug-out blades" article beginning on page 50 is titled "How To Be Knife Ready in Polite Society". The article and accompanying pictures concern "Gent knives". Some of the knives shown such as Al Mar, Darcey and Harrison are fine knives but they also threw in pictures of an SOG Blink and a Kershaw Splinter. Now with all due respect to SOG and Kershaw those knives don't hold a candle to a Sebbie or an Mnandi. How in Hades can you show pics of Gent's knives and not show one or both of those fine instruments? Now to the authors credit he does laud the praises of the Sebbie, particularly the small Sebbie as an excellent example of a "Polite" knife but again no mention of an Mnandi anywhere. I still feel like CRK has been slighted and I feel slighted myself. Well, what do y'all say?

IMO, you put way too much stock in magazine writers. It wasn't mentioned because the author probably didn't have one. When I read those articles it's not an exhaustive survey of what's available, it's whatever happens to be sitting on their desk when they're writing the article.

I'm a little disappointed with every issue of Blade.

Way too much fluff. This was the first time in seven years that I did not re-new my subscription. When I found myself flipping through with the sole intention of seeing new, unphotographed pieces only, and skipping the text and reviews of knives that had been out for a year+, I knew it was time.

I'm pretty sure I read last year in the back that "Leatherman introduces folding pocket tool." Yeah.

Professor.

I noticed the same thing the past few issues. It seems like I would be better off cancelling my subscription and veiwing the new stuff on the web.

June's issue of Blade???? I think I just got May's issue! ugh

Well mine says June 2004 and has Allen Elishewitz's "Helix" on the cover. In fact I told my Wife when I got the June issue that I don't remember even getting the May issue.

Throw in Tactical Knives and Knives illustrated as well. That would save me about $ 15 a month or $ 180 a year. That's some real knife money!

I gave up on all gun magazines except American Handgunner about two years ago. Now I briefly check the covers on the rest of them. They all report the same stuff on the same guns over an over. Knife mags are folowing the same path. I get most of my info on knife related forums.

Yea, the past few issues have been a lot of "filler." I guess it has to make due though until my first issue of Tactical Knives arrives that I recieved as a gift for Christmas. Is it just me or is it when they do a story on a cover knife it seems like just a few vague facts and a brief summary  I can remember that about the Swamp Rat Bog Dog, oh well.

I thought tactical knives just went out of business? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. You should call them.
