I had a fun job at work today.
I rebuilt a Super Bowl XIV ring ( 1979 - I won't say which player, that would violate professional ethics). The top plate with the four diamonds was broken off, the Florentine on the sides was worn almost completely off.....and the whole thing was in heavily worn shape.

I rebuilt the top, hand Florentined the sides, re-did the enamel work, and made the ring look like new.
This is about the tenth world series or super bowl ring I have worked on over the past 30 years.

Right after Super Bowl XIX, I was commissioned to hand make a ring for a player who was cut from the 49'rs before the game (permanent injury) He thought he would get a ring, but since the team canceled his rookie contract when he was injured, they didn't give him one. It is the option of the owners ..... some do, some don't.
So, he had me make one bigger and fancier than the ones they got. It weighed almost two ounces ( NFL ones were 1.5 ounces) and had three carats of diamonds.

Fancy rings like that lead to some of the most interesting conversations on some of the 'pawn' shows.
