Well, I figured tonight would be as good as any to mess around the a Mag stick as I dont really use them much. Just let me say, sorry for the pictures, Im not sure why they didn't turn out good, mabye it was too dark or something.
But anyways, heres what I went out with.

Then the pile of shavings I had from saw the bar with the Rucksack's saw.

Now, I just wanted to show and tell you all, how much I prefer the saw on the rucksack over the one in the OH Fireman model. Its shape seems to give it much better efficieny.

So, at the end, considering I carry a few of these in my kits, I thought it would be neat to give them a run in the back yard. I've used these a few times befor today, but never had an actually fire going except for tonight, this was the first method I tried and it didn't work so I ditched it and went to a plain ferro rod and lint of cotton balls, which has never failed me to this day. All in all, now that I know I can use them, I sure like'em.

P.S. Again, sorry for the crappy pics, I wont do it again I swear :o :D

What !!! No bar-b-q this time? Yeesh! How long until you go back to Novee Scotiee ?

The magnesium fire starter is the best of the best. completely waterproof, durable, small and light weight. It's the only fire starter I carry in the field.

Thanks for that Fonly. I wonder why they used a different saw on those 2models ? How does the main blade compare on them both, I know one is serrated and one hand opening, but which do you prefer ?
I'm still likin that Master Hunter of yours bro, how are you finding it ?

Well, I prefer the staight blade, but also like the OH feature, can't have both I guess.

As for the master hunter, I gotta say Im not a huge fan of it, as soon as I get back to NS and can get my hands on my revolver Im going too. Its a nice knife, but I dont like the Carbon V, I know its suposed to be 0170-c but not in my eyes. I can get my BK7 screamin' sharp but no such luck with the MH, I can get it to scrape hair but nothing more, and I doesnt want to hold it long, not like my BK7.
So, even though its not what I hoped for, its not a bad knife, I just like my revolver more :D

I'm sorry to hear that bro, and quite suprised as well because I have never heard any other bad reports about them !!!

well, it surprises me aswell, I hoped it would have held an edge better, though I gotta say, after thinning down the edge, I like it alot more. I certainly dont regret buying it as its one of the last carbon V MH floating around, well see what the future brings :D

BTW, I think I've broken down and decided on buying a Ka-Bar 1217. :D

I just took inventory of whats left :(

Hey Fonly, whats that on the handle of your wetterling? Mine don't look nothing like that.

Man, see, that Gerber gator? My favorite knife. I don't know why. My knife knut inside tells me it should be a crap knife, but I just love everything about it. It just feels right to me.

Here's another one for you, pitdog. Many years ago, I bought a Master Hunter, although it was stainless. I could get it to shave hair, but like Fonly, it wouldn't last long using it on wood. I finally gave it away.

You know, they are a pretty good little beater, they sharpen up nice, and though they dont hold an edge long, I've cleaned a few fish with mine.
