A little Golok

I really like this small golok a friend of mine made. The blade is traditionally fashioned from three slabs of steel while the handle is made of aged bamboo and shaped for right-hand users. He is a son of a famous bladesmith from Jonggol, Indonesia. I really like the balance, and the handle feel surprisingly comfortable in the hand. I'll be testing it this weekend...

Unfortunately this one is not mine and will have to go soon to my in-laws, but it looks like I will be asking him to make a couple of similar goloks for me. If the test comes out good this weekend, one will make it as part of my kit.

Does anyone have a small golok in their kit? Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated. TIA.

That looks like an awesome blade, I would love something similar to that.
Let me know how it works and maybe your friend could make a few more sales.

I looked at machetes, kukris, and big knives until my eyes crossed. I finally decided on an SAS version of the Martindale golok and it hit the mark for weight, cost and chopping ability.

The one in your photos looks like a great no-nonsense tool.

The little Golok performed well, as I suspected. I cleared branches, made fire wood and prepared food with it. The balance is just great...

I sure wish it was mine. I will ask him to make a similar one for myself, as this one is a gift from him to my in law. I could never make him accept anything in return for his blades, so I really can't ask for more. However, if anyone here is interested (Liam & Daniel), shoot me a PM and I'll ask if he is willing to make an acception for BladeForums.

Daniel: Your version of golok looks great! Please post some pictures of it if you have them...

untamed: You're welcome. Some family members are coming from Manila this week. You guys make great blades up there...

Thanks for the comments guys...
