My current dilema.....SARGE or SFNO?

I am considering these two against eachother as users. Weight on the belt vs performance matters. The blade in question will be used for camp chores and I would like to be able to belt carry it while out and about.

The SARGE 7 really seems to fit the bill in every way..... But so does the SFNO. I am aware of the weight and blade width differences. Having never handled either one it looks loke the SFNO would be a little more blade heavy but is also 3/4" shorter. The extra length combined with the grind on the SARGE makes me think it just really comes down to the weight and functional differences. The butt on the SARGE just seems better suited to utility. What would the extra blade width on the SFNO get me?

I don`t have nor have I handled/used a SFNO but.....I vote Sarge 7 ,I have one and love it , a nice thin edge a great weight and feel .The Sarge7 should do anything you want and still slice well and the handle is super comfortable .I loved how my ESEE6 works but the handle was thin and blocky(IMHO) so I looked around at what was available and the Sarge7 seemed to fit the bill and was I ever right!!

The SAR series (except for the sar3) has huge handles. They just don't work for my hand. If your hands are pretty big you might find the sarge to be perfect.

I do like the butt on the sarge better. The 'fusion' series pointy butts bug me a bit. It seems the 'skull crusher' always ends up being a rib-poker instead. It's mildly irritating.

I'd still go for the SNFO... but only if I couldn't get an NMSFNO. ;)

Good luck.

Tough choice. I'd say the SARGE7 isn't going to get any cheaper than right now. You'd probably have to buy both to really know what works best for you. +1 on the big hands handle on the Sarge7.

I don`t think I have large hands and I find the Sarge7 a great fit . I think the LBTG has a large handle, almost too big for me .I second the Sarge never getting any cheaper than right now ,you might find a good price on a SFNO any time but the Sarge7 is the deal of the decade right now. Also the get both and see is a good idea but get the Sarge while the getting is good.

you also have sabre vs full flat SFNOs. I can get a good side-by-side of a SARGE and SFNOLE in a few hours. Ill throw in a hellrazor, ZTSH and SHeLE.

My favorite is the SHe, but I like all of them for different reasons.

Sfno! I would say nmsfno but with the nmfsh looming in the "not so distant future?" I would get the sfno now and the nmfsh when its released!

I do not own either of these, but....

Regarding the rib-poker pommel, is it possible you could wear the knife lower? I tend to wear all of my knives (including folders) with the handle in my pocket-area, well below my waste. For fixed blades that would be dangle/drop-leg/thigh-ride or whatever. For me they're just easier to deploy and more comfortable there, regardless of my position/action. YMMV.

Thanks guys.

Darkaether thanks much for the pic.

I have a .27 Saber FSH that has kept me from picking up a NMSFNO. I tried lugging that beast around on my belt and had no fun hence the quest for something lighter but capeable of similar tasks. I picked up a NOe to fill the role but am on the fence about the handle. I got an early one without radiused slabs, not sure if I should mod it or sell it at this point. I figured the SARGE over the 6 because it is a little longer but lighter.

Darkaether, is there a noticeable difference on the belt between the Sarge and SFNO?

I've never handled a SFNO, but love my SARGE. The handles don't seem big at all to me, and my hands are medium. Besides, as others have said, you can always get a SFNO for the forum price, but SARGE will only be available at factory cost for a limited time. Pull the trigger, wait two weeks.

Well first you buy one and then you buy the other one.. and after that you buy all the Busses your wallet can handle... :)

The sarge feels super light in your hand but it chops really well and is great for just about all tasks you need a knife for in the bush. I carry the sarge and a Battle Mistress , the sarge for most stuff and the Battle Mistress for taking down trees and making firewood and stuff..
