Does anybody have both the flat ground G10 Police and the Military? I'd like to see a comparative scan of both of them. Mr. Mattis, Dex, Murray, Sal, Ewok?

how about throwing a full size calypso in the mix? i think it and the police are easily comparable.

Sure Leroy.

For me, it's the blade. The Military looks broader. BTW, are the G10 handles Olive Drab or black? They looked black to me?

OK, here's a snapshot.

And, yes, I know the cutting board needs oiling.

In case it isn't obvious, from top to bottom: Police, Military, Calypso, Calypso. Believe it, or not, I only have one Police and one Military.

Get large Calypso as long as it still is available! Run!

Got mine two weeks ago. It was worth of getting my bank account quite empty. Really a piece of art. The most beautiful spyderco with only micarta calypso jr and CF dragonfly getting anywhere near. I can't imagine that it wasn't best seller and is now discontinued

. Design is unparalleled. If I was making that kind knife and people wouldn't buy it I would be really hurt.

Handle allows more comfortable grips than any other spydie I have handled. Handle will not wear your trousers as G10 but still has enough friction not to be slippery. Steel is better than in police. Calypso is the most versatile and beautiful of all spydies. You can use it hard or use it as large gentlemans folder...

Tell us what was your decision.

I REALLY need to get one of the large calypso's. I've got a small plain edge, which i believe is one of the experimental ones (metal lined lanyard hole, no yellow spydie on the clip).

I love the handle and the blade shape. A larger one with better steel can only be perfection.

Anyone have an idea why only serrated calypso's are showing up on ebay?

Dang, Ewok! Now you got ME thinking about a Calypso the whole day today! Thanks to your picture!!

And heaven knows whenever I get this sort of itch, I don't stop 'til I get myself one! ARGH!!! my poor wallet...

I just bought a Calypso, mainly due to this thread. I'd been thinking about getting one for several months, but Tommi's advice and Ewok's pic finally convinced me.

One reason I was kind of hesitant to buy one is that I was under the impression that the blade is essentially a wharncliffe, with a completely straight edge. It's not though. The edge certainly doesn't have a lot of belly, but Ewok's pic clearly shows that it has some curve, which made it more appealing to me.

Also, everything that Tommi wrote is accurate. It may sound exaggerated, but it really isn't. I would only add that you should try to fondle it yourself. In pictures, it may look a bit boring and unremarkable, but when you see it in person, it's simplicity seems much more elegant and refined.
