You guys have good taste in knives, and I know from previous discussions a number of you like camp style pocket knives. So...

I have these two Camillus knives...

The top one is my Cub Scout knife. It was my first pocket knife and I received it when I joined the Scouts. Great little knife, but I hate the scales.
The second is a Camillus 99 that I won on the Bay. Also a great knife.

Here's the deal. I'm thinking of having one of these rehandled and I want ya'll to help.
If it were you:
Which one?
What material would you use?

Let's here it! Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally, I would leave the Cub Scout knife as-is, as it's something you had when you were little. However, if you hate the scales, then that opens the door. I would probably do some smooth dyed bone and try to re-set the shield. Maybe something like this, for example...

The other one I would do in some nice natural stag.

That thing is gorgeous! Yours?

Leaning that way. It is a more pocketable knife. I like the idea of carrying a more "grown up" version of a knife I've had forever.

You rehandle SAKs, could you do one of these?

I could not do it, but I`m sure glennbad can. He`s the man for rehandling knives!

If it was me, keep the original knife that you used in the scouts as is and buy another to have fancied up.

I would never change a knife that I carried that has a real personal connection like that.

I'd re-scale the one you've had the longest, it's stil the same knife with different scales and might mean you carry that little bit of your own history around more often, which would be cool.

I'd go for wood scales, but I'm like that.

either way, cool knives!

I'd do the Boy Scout in a good hard black ebony. I know, you figured I'd say that but you did ask.:D

I like that Cubby, nice size for pocket carry. How about old meets new and handle in Kirinite Lava Flow or Toxic Green! would be one of a kind for sure!

I've been thinking about this a little more. What if I had the Cub Scout knife rehandled in a natural bone and kept the shield? Kind of an upgrade while keeping the same overall look.
Opinions?

Considering your opening comment - "The top one is my Cub Scout knife. It was my first pocket knife and I received it when I joined the Scouts. Great little knife, but I hate the scales." - I'd say that you are on to the excellent solution.

I think it would look good in a real nice 3-D awesome "BURL"..! ( of course I am partial to Burl. )^^

If it's just the white you don't like you might try RIT Dye in a color that you like.

That looks like Delrin & I've read Delrin can be dyed no problem.

On the other hand, Glenn can hook you up with something you'll be happy with if it's a total recovering you want.

I wish they were Derlin. They are some sort of plastic and don't feel great in hand, which is why I would like to replace them. If I can ever decide on something, I will PM Mr. Glennbad because he does indeed do great work.
