Hey guys,
I have just finished sharpening a blade at 15 dps with a 20 dps microbevel. Everything looks hunky-dory, except for one little wire edge, about 1/4" long, right near the tip that I can't get rid of.

I noticed my waterstone had dished some on the sides, so I lapped it back to dead flat and worked on the microbevel a bit more to no avail. Have tried about everything else I know to do. What am I doing wrong to cause this, and how do I fix it?

Thanks, guys!!!

I think I know what I did. I didn't deburr as well as I could have after the coarse stone, so I've been working on a coarse grit burr with a fine stone. I sharpened another blade on the same knife tonight, but remembered a debuting tip that Heavy Handed mentioned in another thread recently. Tried it and got much better results. That first blade is going back to the coarse stone tomorrow.

Just saw your post in the other thread. Again, nice job! This just goes to show the importance of a clean edge. Properly apexing and deburring right off the bat will have a huge effect on your end result. I typically have to spend less and less time as I progress through my grits because it's simply refinement after a certain point.
