Been lurking for awhile, and I'm gonna take the plunge and buy a RAT for all-purpose backpacking/camping - are there any RAT Cutlery retailers near the I-75 corridor in Ohio and/or Michigan? I'm driving to the MI upper peninsula on Saturday for a 10-day camping trip, and I'm in no hurry, so if there are any retailers along the way I'd just as soon buy a new knife in person, as there's no way one could be shipped on time.

So how 'bout it, Wolverines, Spartans, and Buckeyes - anyone know of a RAT retailer along the way? If not, I supposed I'll have to survive with my Gerber LMF. lol

ps at edit: I've seen the official list on the Rat website, and I'm hoping, no, I'm BEGGING that I won't have to click on every single individual link and look for each individual brick-and-mortar location. Save me!

Thanks in advance,
KD

Well if you shop online, knivesshipfree.com is good and fast.

As far as knife recommendations go. If you can take the weight go with the RC-6 if not the RC-4 is your best bet.

Hello KD & welcome!

I'm in Ohio & you would receive shipments in probably 2 days (3 max) so it should arrive in time if it was shipped tomorrow.

Depends on what you're looking for-if you want a beater get the RC-5. It's what I did, and then I bought a Koyote scandinavian blade for finer more detailed work, so I have both ends of the spectrum and will carry both knives. A RC-4 or RC-6 seems to be the middle of the road design, meant to do all tasks. Based on the destruction tests I've seen you won't go wrong with any choice.

Thanks. Just put in an order, and if it gets here by Friday I'll be extremely happy.

I'd take up TKC's offer! Order it tonight and you'll have it.

I recommend the RC-4 if weight is a major issue or the RC-6 if you just want a great all round camp blade. Good luck!

Great choice, Im sure youll love it. Have fun on your camping trip. Post some pictures of your trip and your knife when you get back :)

Good choice ordering it online, I can't think of any stores along I-75 that would sell RAT knives, and I travel that route fairly often.

Got my RC4 in the mail today!
Thanks, Dale, for the prompt service.
Sadly (for my checking account) I will probably be buying another from you in the future. lol

Hmm...so, now you're going to run out and abuse it and see what all the wonderful praise is about, right? :P
