Walking past a counter I caught the sheath on one of my knives on the corner. It pulled so hard that it ripped the stitching out of one end of the belt loop. How the heck can you fix that. It looks to me like I am going to have cut the main stitching, open the sheath up, restitch the loop and then restitch the sheath. Is this my only alternative?

If it is fairly close to the throat, you might be able to used curved needles and stitch it. There is usually some way to do it, without complete disassembly.

Hard to tell though, without seeing it.

You could drill a few small holes in the leather, get ahold of a piece of steel heavy and small enough to serve as an anvil inside the sheath and simply rivit her back together. Put the head of the rivit inside the sheath and the washer outside, a #14 rivit should be good enough, use more than one, I like to use at least three.
