my grizzly grinder is on its way and now i need to order some belts...based on what i've read around here, i've decided to start with a set of 60, 150 and 320 grit...

my question is, which brand of belts should i get? i'm looking at the tru-grit catalog and have NO idea which brand to choose...or maybe i need to mix up the types depending on the grit size?

price isn't an issue -- i'd rather get good belts that will last and do the job...

another question: i've read a bit about cork belts for polishing around here as well...what grit to get on those, assuming i'm getting the 60, 150 and 320 abrasive belts?

thanks...

Trugrit:
60grit Norton Hoggers
X65 Norax
120 or 240 cheapo's to clean up after HT
Then what ever grit you plan to finish in.
Maybe some Norax X16
Cork 400 grit for polishing.
For me I usually wind up just using this combination. The other belts I buy turn out to be just excess = wasted $.

I agree with Robert,
I like the 50 Grit ceramic from norton I have gotten 3 knives out of one blet, the old 50 grits I use for profileing.
I then go to the norax belts they are great.
I can not speak for the cork belts I have not used them but I intend to in the furture.

You're on the right track already. Bargain belts AREN'T. Strange as it may seem, the more you pay for belts, the less you'll spend on belts.

You might also try some 3M 967 and 977 belts in 36 grit and 50 grit. Not sure if trugrit has them but Koval does. Excellent and very long wearing.
