Got out for a little mid-day hike behind the house today. Needed to stretch the legs, work the dogs and find a good stump to sit on for a spell.

Today's rig:

Split a little kindling with my Wetterlings hatchet (love this little axe):

Then made some shavings and a did a little more splitting with my Gunny Hunter:

Just one of many reasons I like full convex grinds :D :

Obligatory knife shot:

I also carried this GEC Bull Nose in my pocket:

Then it was time to fire up the Emberlit:

Taking in the scenery while the water boils:

Steeping some peppermint/spruce needle tea:

For anyone interested, here's a pic of the Toaks 450ml mug inside the 750ml pot:

And another shot of the Emberlit in action, with the 750ml. pot on top:

All goals accomplished.

Nice pics, looks like a good day! I have the titanium emberlite and the two toaks as well, a great kit!

great pics. looks like a nice, relaxing time. I wish i had woods behind my house. All i have is... a neighbor haha. thanks for sharing.

Mans best friend, a quality knife and hatchet, and titanium cookware what else do you need for a perfect day for woods bumming?

I love the Tetons.
I lived in Rexburg for a year and went snowboarding to Grand Targee all the time.

I've spent time in Jackson Hole.

My only near death experience from hypothermia came in the Teaton's while camping. I failed to check my gear before the trip (I had grown a lot since the last time I used my old North Face Mummy bag). The bag no longer fit me, and I got hypothermic (I had never really appreciated the brain shutting down and poor decision making from the cold).

great pics. beautiful country. thanks for sharing.

also, i am going to have to get one of those 15's with the cap lifter.

Great pics! Heading West in a month. Looking forward to visiting the Tetons and Big Horns sometime in the near future.

A good beer deserves a quality lifter.

I love a couple of the GEC's and i keep buying them. but alas, they have never replaced the Vic Farmer in my pocket. sadly, it is mostly because i can't open a beer with one...corners aren't "square" enough. hadn't seen this one with the CL. love it. thanks!

How was that tea?

Have a hard time really replacing a SAK with any other knife. Been carrying a ZT lately, and sometimes a GEC #42 in a pocket slip.

i hear ya man. the 42 is my favorite. i finally found one in black canvas micarta, and i was psyched to buy it. buuut, my Farmer keeps riding in my pocket.

btw...smithhammer, i'm going to have to try one of those bark river's sometime. certainly a good lookin' knife you got there.

Tea was tasty! Most of the spruce needles had sunk to the bottom of the mug by the time I tookthat pic, but the "spruce taste" was still mild.

I hear ya on the SAK - my Alox Pioneer is useful far beyond its size and weight.

Can't recommend them enough. There are so many great looking knives to choose from these days, but there are some subtleties of design in BRKs - in the grip, in the blade geometry, etc. that really start to shine after you've used them for a while. And the Gunny is one of my all-time favorites - it feels like it was custom-designed for my hand. Here's a better pic of that knife:

any chance i could get spine shot? i'm looking to see the thickness of the scales. i saw the top pic, and still a bit too hard to tell. thanks!

EDIT: i don't mean to turn your W&SS thread into a General Knife Discussion thread. feel free to PM me, if you prefer.

Nice hatchet, nice knife , nice stove and nice scenery. Everything is nice! You've made it all look so pleasurable. (I need to enlarge my vocabulary because I really wanted to say nice again:D;))
How are you liking CPM 3V?

SmithHammer, Thanks for the post, could close my eyes a believe I was there. Also checked out the Bark River Bro 1

Thanks all. I feel truly blessed to live where I do, and I try to never forget that.

I went on another hike the other day, in an adjoining range (The Palisades) and here is a shot looking back toward where I was hiking in the pics above:
