A little hike with my best buds

Decided to take a little hike today by the river I kayak in. I wanted to try out my Jetboil that I got for Christmas. We took Fritz the dog and made him carry 1 gal of water.
The little guy had his backpack and mom had the camera. We didnt go real far but had a good walk and found a place to have our lunch. The little guy found a few treasures, some muscle shells and a goose carcass that still had lots of feathers. I tried to light the Jetboil with a firesteel and the BK7 but couldnt get it to go. I ended up using a lighter. Does any one here light stoves with a firesteel? Maybe a smaller striker would have worked better. After the Jetboil was going that thing can make some boiling water crazy fast. So we had ramen noodles and apples. Anyway here are a few pics. All I did with the BK7 was trim a couple of branches back from the trail slice up an apple and try to light the stove.

Its a Spec-Ops The pack. Great assault pack, that has literally been around the world a few times and is in great shape still.
 
Uh, my jetboil has an ignition button on it. Looks like a good time man. Cool to see the dog pulling some weight too!
 
That's just awesome, spending time outdoors with your son or daughter is the thing that life's memories are made of. My son is 23 now, but our fondest memories of his childhood are the ones outdoors on our 55 acre ranch in NW Arizona... Sitting around campfires, on hikes, out shooting and hunting, etc.
 
Hey! Unique name for a thread. Looks like a good time. You definately got me smoked in the dog department. Mine is pretty much worthless.
 
Copy paste works wonders ;) dont let knucklehead fool you he is as worthless as they come. Not sure why we like him so much lol
 
Pics like this makes me miss nature. Times shared like this are priceless. Beautiful dog too.

Yes, I do.
We have a "stormkjøkken" (Trangia) with a gasburner. There's a LMF Scout stored in the waterkettle, because I don't want to have to think about bringing matches or lighters...
It usually only takes one spark now (though I had to practice a bit) :)

Looks like you had a nice trip!
