A Little Hike with the Gunny

I got a chance to get out and go for a short hike today on the ridge trail above Lilly Lake on the east side of RMNP and just north of Long's Peak. It was the quintessential late fall Colorado day. Temp about 40f and clear blues skies with bright sunshine. The south and west facing slopes have intermittent snow, while the east and north facing sections are snowy and icy. All in all a beautiful day to be out.

Below are some pics of the area.

Nice pics of some gorgeous terrain, I can't wait for snow.

But a thread with a knife in the name, in a knife forum, with no knife pics? Shame on you:p

A few more shots of the more distant peaks, including Long's with the sun setting to its west.

Sorry I'm not fast enough. Here are the pics of the Bark River Gunny (with the ramp removed by Bark River) that was my companion for this hike. Its a very handy sized knife, and I especially like it without the ramp.

Oops:o

My bad, too quick on the draw.

Anyway, more spectacular pics:thumbup:

Did it cost extra to have the ramp removed? Was it done straight from the factory, or did you get the knife and decide you didn't like the ramp, then send it back?

No problem, I'm just an amateur on the pics.

As far as the Gunny, I went to a Wilderness Learning Center course and one of the other students let me borrow his Gunny for a day. I really liked it, but didn't like the ramp. (I had previously had a Bravo 1 that I moved along for that reason). I know KSF will have it done for you. But I purchased one elsewhere with a ramp. I then called Mike Stewart and he had me send it in and they removed the ramp for shipping and handling ($12). The customer service at Bark River is pretty outstanding.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. I think the Gunny looks better w/o the ramp. It becomes a different knife, no longer a Bravo mini me:D

I agree. Without the ramp it looks more like a reduced size Aurora with a little larger guard IMO.
