I know this is a blade forum but I've gotten such exceptional good info here from experts on knives that I have to ask about this too.

Does anyone know this particukar type of I think WW2 gun:
It says on one side: Deautche Werke
And the other: Werk Erfurt Cal 6.35 mm
And on top: Ortgies Patent.

I think the company name is Ortgies.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Hello,
In the USA we call that caliber .25acp. That might help some if you are doing an internet search. I have found an article for you. There is more info out there if you just do a search. From what I understand, Hilter had one of these pistols at some point. I have seen them in person and they are very well made. Collector value on them is not as high as you would think and they can still be had for reasonable prices.

Here is a link t get you started.

good luck finding much info on that company, ive got a couple of there rifles and ive given a few away as gifts in the past. my buddy currently has that exact pistol, not verry accurite but well made. if i remember correctly theres some issues with stress cracks on the slide so check it out good before you shoot it much.

Ortgies are fairly well made, and usually are shootable if they look pretty good, meaning, clear bore, no gobs of rust hidding about. They take the ,25 ACP round
