well, the CKG show is a week past and there has been lots of interested viewing of the show thread by RL. Glad everyone enjoyed the photos.

Decided it is time to show some knives I got at the show. I have had a number of Brian Lyttle knives that I have collected over the years having known Brian for quite a long time. Phyllis and I have be guest at Brians Alberta Ranch also and enjoy his and Leonie's company immensely.

As shown on the CKG show review, here is the little Lyttle a Lady's dress knife that Phyllis enjoys carrying.

This knife is made of ATS 34 with an OAL of 5 5/8" and a blade of2 1/2". The bolster is engraved 416SS with garnets on each side and gold and the blade is gold engraved. The mammoth ivory matching scales are pined with 18K plated pins. This is both a delicate and very sharp knife.

The second knife which is about as sharp as one can imagine. Actually, Brian is outdoing anything I have seen relative to sharpness. He calls this one the Scalper.

The 5 1/2" blade is 160 layer O2/L6 Damascus. The OAL 9 1/2" knife is finished with a Sanbar stag handle and held together with a damascus butt/nut. The knife does come totally apart. The sheath is form fitting and hold the knife snuggly but retracts readily.

These 2 knives have joined 3 others on a wall mounted display while one other is on the coffee table. All can be seen in this photo.

brian is one of the most talented makers out there. These pictures show what he is capable of. I am going to get to see him make a knife at the Ed Storch symposium this summer in Alberta. I can hardly wait.

AHA..I KNEW you'd get those :) as you know, I really like that small one...great score!

Very nice stuff Murray. As you know, that scalper tempted the heck out of me. I'm glad that it has found a home so close by. And yeah, it was pretty scary-sharp allright.

Cheers,

Roger

Oh-so-nice knives from this guy! Good score, Murray!

I am in love with that stag hunter taking center stage in the bottom pic. This defines cleanliness!

Coop

Coop--the center stag hunter is a dream knife. Every knifemaker that saw it when I travelled to shows and displayed it commented on its perfection and wonderful feel in the hand. It is quite remarkable. Prior to the new one, it was the sharpest knife in the collection.

Brian made a concerted effort to prove that with proper heat treat and edge geometry, that ATS 34 would match or out perform any other product.

This year his goal would seem to be to do the same with damascus and san mai work and I'm sure those at the CKG show and get together can attest that he succeded admirably.

Someday, we will have to be able to visit and see each others collections and just "yammer" about knives.

I think the dagger that HJK is going to have from Brian will be another outstanding work of art also. Maybe at our next local knife knuts gathering for the summer BBQ he will be able to attend and hopefully have it and many others available for the knife knuts to drool over. (hint** hint**)

Didn't see this thread till now, got to meet and greet Brian again at Ashokan this September for the weekend, very nice gentleman and agree his knives are most keen! And I am familiar with sharp just a lyttle...;)

He had a beautiful san mai damascus tanto that he carried in an outstanding shoulder harness of his making, work as slick as any I've ever seen. Didn't have the heart/wallet to ask what that one was worth :)

Nice collection, if you see Brian, tell him that I said Hi!

Brian makes some of the nicest knives you are going to find anywhere. I have been having a little trouble getting in touch with him lately. Hopefully he will get back to me soon. I really want to get him to make me a Bowie.

All of them are awesome, but my favorite is the small damascus knife with what looks like walrus ivory handle.

That center hunter in the bottom photo would be my ideal hunter. What an awesome profile. I like the top left knife in that photo alot also.

Danbo--the knife to which you refer actually has scales of Buffalo bone but it is a hidden tang.

The hunter is a knife that just blends to the hand and is sheer perfection.
