I have been toying with the idea of pinning the handle on a Mora since someone on here had one pull off. I did one today. I just used a 3/16 hardwood dowel for a pin but could have used anything. I figure a wood pin would add a lot of strength as far as keeping the handle from pulling off. Don't recall which Mora this is.

If I'm not mistaken it was a 510 that pulled out of its handle and them glued back in by epoxy. That is a pretty good idea IMO if you could pull it out and then glue and pin it.

Cool!

They sell the blade blanks as well, then you can pin it, guard it, d-guard it (:D), pommel it etc.
The mora kit blades are fun as you can custom shape the handle exactly to your hand.

absolutely. One up on the pinning idea as well. It was really easy and fun. What was the gentleman doing that pulled it out though?

I don't recall just how it happened but it does happen now and then. I had one that got a little loose but never came out. This pin can be pushed back out if need be. I took a dowel that was just a bit to big then sanded it just enough that it would start into the hole, then I pressed in it with the vice.

I really like the 740 and the clippers for the way they fit my hand. I think I will pick up a few Mora or Helle blades to put handles on. I have been buying some Green River blades to tinker on. They are excellent quality Carbon steel blades.

You gotta have a Carbide drill bit. I tried Titanium and Cobalt and they wouldn't even scratch the blade.

I think that he was batoning with it and came out. I remember somebody posting pics of it in one of the "I love/hate mora" threads.
