I used to shoot a lot of black powder years ago, and have been thinking about getting back into it, it realy is a lot of fun. I realy like the Colt copies even though there a weeker desighn than the Remintons.

What I'm wondering is does anybody have experience with cartrige conversons? I know of a drop in cylinder for the Reminton, but what about the Colts? If I rember the orginal Colts were converted to 44 Henry Flats, and they can be converted to 44 special with black powder loadings.

I've looked on the web with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't think there are any drop in conversions for the Colt, but things are changing everyday due to the influence of Copwboy Action Shooting. www.taylorsfirearms.com carries the R & D cylinders for the Remington 1858 and the Ruger Old Army

Bob Millington at http://armsportllc.com/ does some of the best custom conversions on all types including Colts. His work is worth taking a look at and I can say from personal experience (I've made gun rigs for several) they are extremely well done.

Chuck, there was at one time because a friend that owns a gun shop
tried to get me to buy one. Don`t recall how made them but I think
the cost was around $250??

Thanks guys, looking at the prices makes me think I'll have to stick with loading from the front! Still a lot of fun, just loads a mite slow!
