I know there is a Boker forum here, but it gets very little traffic, and since it gets so little traffic, the few who frequent that forum will likely be Boker-lovers, and I value the input/criticism of the members here. Also, I own several ESEE knives and this is the forum where I lurk. Without further ado...

I have been looking into the Broker Trance for a long time now and I finally put one on order. It seems like a great value - solid lock (frame lock), decent blade steel (AUS8), good size, and good design. Best of all is the price (I bought 2 for under $50 shipped)! The blade is 2.75", so it compares well in that regard with the Spyderco Persistence. The Persistence has G-10 handles, the Spyder hole, and a nice blade shape to its advantage. However, in my opinion, none of that can overcome the liner-lock-disadvantage. I don't do liner locks, and that is just my personal thing. I have also been told recently, that the 8Cr13MoV blade steel used by Spyderco is not quite as good as AUS8. I know the AUS8 will not hold up as well as the 154CM that I am used to, but a little more time spent sharpening is not so bad.

If you guys/gals have information/experience/opinions on this knife, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, I was just posting up about a different knife that caught my interest.

This was one of the first knives i had and loved it. Although its inexpensive, it's very well made and came sharp. Its small but ergonomic and easy and comfortable to use. The only reason I no longer have it is because I gave it to a friend to get him interested in knives

You'll love it!

The CLB designed Bokers and the Boker Plus line in general are one of the best bargains in the knife world. The Trance is a great folder. You'll love it.

AUS8 is one of the least offensive stainless steels. There aren't many stainless steels I like but AUS8 is one of the ones that I do like. It sharpens easily and holds an edge reasonably well.

The Trance was the first knife I've bought in years, sort of re-sparked my interest in collecting (that and going to the blade show in ATL). It's been my EDC for about a year now and I think that's due to much of the points that you already made. Of course, I'll need to branch out a bit as well, thinking an Izula would be a good Christmas gift for myself.

I was kinda thinking the same thing - that it might not hold an edge like the wonder steels, but at least it'll sharpen up easily. I like the really high grind too.

It's a bit odd... I own, and sometimes carry, knives that cost $100-200 (and even more), but this little $25 knife has held my interest for a while. I'm really looking forward to receiving it.

Yes! The Izula is a great gift for yourself. It is just as good as you hear people remarking here all the time.

One of my favorite knives I've had. Great ergos, simple design, good steel, and cheap. I just got rid of it in a trade to try some new stuff(had it for 1.5-2 years). It has a nice blade finish that doesn't highlight scratches. Think a kershaw zing is very similiar as well and want to get one sometime.
