A little praise for the Eskabar

I've been doing some much needed heavy duty trimming and weed eating around the place.

The little Eskabar has impressed me with its cutting ability. That flat grind really gets a bite and can cut and chop above its size.

The orange slabs helps my not so sharp mind find where I misplaced it and adding some paracord to the sheath allows a quick exit and return to the pocket.

Just a handy knife that works.

Agreed. My first experience with my BK14 was cutting some rope to secure some fenceposts that I was reinforcing with concrete around the base. Sliced through thick nylon rope with zero issues. Definitely acts bigger than it is.

I have a necker, and not a BK14, but agreed, they are great little knives.

Although... my Necker doesn't chop worth anything (and I tried it once, just for kicks).

Here is the thread where I chopped with it (although the thread is actually about the BK17).

Glad you're liking the blade :).

I usually use my Mora Companion HD in the garden but this year it will be my D'Eskabar.

Awesome link and nice review man! I never noticed the MK1's blade is so similar to a clipped 16.

I love my 14, bought it on a whim and quickly fell in love with it. Been my EDC since day one. Best little big knife ever!

I guess I should explain my version of chopping is compared to a pocket knife and on pithy vegetation.

Definitely not in the machete class.

I get it man. I do the same thing esp around other plants that you don't want to hurt with a big chopper. Really green weeds and such and the little 14 makes it almost fun heh

Thanks man :). I was mostly meaning the part where I included the BK11 in the chopping test just for giggles, but just linked the whole thing instead (sorry its kind of long though).

But I think I'd like the 14 more, as my 11 is a bit uncomfortable to my hands.

Oh, no worries man, I wasn't giving you grief, just was kind of surprised when I saw that someone said that their 11/14/24 was a good chopper is all. I get where you're coming from now.

Keep enjoying the new steel :).

I love mine , it's my edc and work knife , I gotta sharpen mine but because it's factory edge is dangerously blunt after months of use with no touch ups

As is mine. Have it with me (not always on me) most of the time. Its my favourite blade along with the 16. Got a nice sheath system for the 24 I'll post sometime over the weekend, great blade.
