A Little over a week ago, I was walking back from a noon meeting. I needed to get a diamond stone and Orchards is a block from my house. The DMT stones were really overpriced so I went to Pool Mart (the owner also happens to deal in MT, MOD, and other blades) to see if he had a better deal. I bought a much better one from him for a much better price. He had a leather strop mounted on a wood block on his shelf and I asked him about that. He said he'd had it for years and nobody bought it. He told me I could have it since I could get a lot of use out of it.... Free :D

As I walked back to my apartment, I looked at the strop again and there was a maker's mark in the corner....

So... I'm not going to let this slip by as coincidence. God is good. He keeps me sober, 81 days today.

I just had to share this little piece of happiness with you all :)

It was not a coincidence. We have a house full of foster and adopted children. I have many times thought about something I would like such as a bike for one of the kids and have one given to us the next day.
The other day my wife was in the store and I was in the van with the kids and an old Eskimo woman walked up to the window and offered to sell me a key chain for $ 3.50.
I was thinking if I bought it she would probably just use any money I gave her for booze.
On second thought I figured I could use this experience to teach the children about charity so I bought it. After she handed it to me and she walked away i read what was printed on the heart shaped fob and it said "God Measures The Heart".

I believe in Angels.

I pray that God will continue to bless you.

81 days... you are doing your part... keep at it.

I don't even know you and I'm proud of you (I know it isn't easy!)!:thumbup:

There is no such a thing as coincidence. I also believe in Angles, as there are many that walk amongst us every day.
Prayers to you solidsoldier! One Day at a Time. Let me know if I can help you in any way. I DO very much remember what it was like to be newly sober. I iwsh you peace inside you, and outside you brother.

I hope the insignia helps remind you every time you use it of that little gift. I'm glad you reconized the situation and shared it with this forum! Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,

Doug

81 days?:thumbup::thumbup: Keep at it, my friend, and you'll get to where you want to be, one day at time, as they say.

I truly do believe that God will do little things like what happened to you there, just to show us he's watching over us. I've had too many amazing "coincidences" in my life not to believe there's a higher power at work.

Thanks for sharing.

thx - cpr

If you keep God in one hand, and AA in the other, you won't have a hand to pick up a drink.

Solid Soldier,
He is speaking to you my friend. Your choice to remain sober is a step in faith. A walk in faith will take you far, farther than you can dream. Stay with it, and congratulations from another sober brother.

My dad drank a lot. My brother went thru NA. Me? I'm fortunate I didn't do those things but I've been silently battling that dark cloud (depression) most of my life as well. I'm still here.

We often forget, because of all the goings-on and bad things in this world, that "God" (a term for the Supreme Being) IS always there for us. He however always remembers and welcomes us back no matter how much we loose our way in this life.

Thats what LIFE is all about; to remember and find our way back to GOD.

God is love, that's why he sent his only son, Jeses to earth and ultimately give his life for our sins. If accept this we are totally forgiven and not a slave to our sins. God has also promised us that He will provide for our needs. Its easy to forget that God truly cares about every aspect of our lives. Dan

When you die,
I hope you fly the friendly skies,
instead of lying all alone
in the cold dark ground.

Find love on Earth
and follow it forever
and when you get to heaven
you'll see it's really home.

Wow Esav ... That was nice;)

Kinda reminded me of Gurney Halleck, always having the right quote for the occasion.

"...mmmmm - uuh! ... Shai Hulud"

P.S. Shabbat Shalom!

SS keep on keeping on...

Your doing GREAT! In fact I don't care what they say about you,

I "kind of" like you :p
