Here is one by Richard Rogers that I don't believe I have brought to "show and tell" before. I had a big time computer failure and lost all my knife specification files. (no, I did not have the files backed-up). I don't remember for sure but I am just going to guess ATS-34 and stag.

 Real nice one! Got a request; can you show a pic of the edge detail? Also, why do my attachments show up as thumbnails, and yours are bigger pics??

Holy crap, that's one of the hottest Rogers I've seen

Please tell me you're using that one, it sure looks like it wants to be...

Waynorth, if you host them off-site you can link to them like Thomason. When you attach them they show as icons, but you can also add them to the thread by opening your attachment, copying the URL and adding the url to your post by clicking the little icon that looks like a mountain.

This is very interesting. It is very similar in appearance to an old Sheffield knife I just bought at a flea market. It is a Chris Johnson made in about 1912, bone scales, rectangular shield.

Even the short swedge grind on the blade.

Can someone point me to instructions for posting pics please?

Thanks cpirtle! I will attempt to move my dinosaur brain in that direction!!

I will drag out the camera and do my best but I'm not sure exactly what you mean by edge detail. I'll also try and get a shot of the file work on the liners and spring if I can, it is pretty small.

Great little knife. I had a similar one in a very nice dark green bone. Richards grinds are amazing!

A couple more shots for your viewing pleasure. The same subtle file work is also along the liners on the other side. How did he do that?:D

Absolutly beautiful and I should know. (I carry/use an exact twin of this knife with ironwood handles.):D

Rob, has anyone told ya you have good taste.

As far as posting pics there are two basic ways.

1. For paying members click on the manage attachments button to browse your hard disk and upload a picture directly to BF.

2. If you are a non-paying member or want to link to an existing picture on the web. Click on the yellow landscape icon and paste in the url of the picture. (not the web-page).
If the picture is on a web-page right click select properties and copy the url of the picture from that dialogue box.
This is how you see bigger pics. They are actually links. A lot of folks use one of the free photo posting web-sites or websites that they own. Post the pics there and link to them here.

That's what I meant, edge on shots to show how the blades fit and any filework. I guess my terminology is confusing.
If the shield side is the front, maybe I should say "the top and the bottom"?

Well the thumbnails work pretty good, and are way easier, so I guess I'll stick with them.

Nice milled liners! they are usually done with a checkering tool to keep the spacing nice and even. They have to be done before assembly, so the liners have to be sized precisely, otherwise the milling gets ground off when the hafting (final shaping and polishing) is done.

Richard makes a fine knife no doubt. He and his wife are nice folks on top of it too. Good score.

I have to agree. Knives aside, Richard and Sally are two of my favorite people. I usually only see them once a year, but getting to know them has made me a better person. (not an easy thing to do :D.) When I think of RIchard's knives I think of one of the best finishes that I have constantly encountered and subtle elegance.

Richard is in the top tier no doubt..the handle material is elk antler.
Enjoy that beautiful knife.

I really, really hate it that I lost all my knife spec files. So Ran, your guess is elk? You may very well be correct. It does resemble the handle on a Tomes I have that I remember is elk. Did mention that I hate that I lost all my files?
