I've had this high carbon cable sitting around and finally decided to twist it up and weld it flat. I used two pieces of it for the sides of a little skinner (6" OAL). The core is 1075. I ground to near completion and then clayed the cable sides to prevent them from hardening thereby giving more contrast in the etch. The cable was 1095 so I wasn't sure how much contrast I would get. Machine finish on the blade (that will change I think). The ferrule is two pieces of wrought iron etched and then blackened in the forge (thanks D. Lisch for giving me new ideas on how to treat my wrought). Some primitive filed copper for a spacer between the two pieces of wrought. Redwood burl..another amazing piece of wood from Mark. Copper spacer between the two morticed scales.

Nice details Scott!

I recently aquired a nice length of 1084 cable and am anxious to give it a try.
