In case you guys hadn't heard there's been a big shooting at the Ft. Hood base in Texas. Lots of people injured and over a dozen killed. If you guys can do what you do and send some of your vibes that way it would be nice.

I like to think our military is safe when at home, and I hate to see events like this happen. Being a former active duty Marine myself it's bad news for us Veterans. So any good wishes to them would help.

Very much smoke and prayer for those involved in this tragic event and for all those posted overseas. IIRC, didnt a similar thing to this happen just a short time ago? It seems to me that the military should be doing someting to help sevicemen suffering from PTSD before they go Postal and start killing people.

Yeah it's not clear what caused it. This guy is a psychiatrist (go figure) and was told he's on his way to being deployed. He didn't want to go and this was what happened.

But it's definitely a more common event now than during peacetime. Lots of soldier on soldier violence and among the general population by military servicemembers. It's a shame.

the 'doctor' in question was apparently a devout muslim. he apparently was doing his best to get out of his commitment and placed his religion above his country and felt that he was being treated suspiciously because he was a muslim. looks like not suspiciously enough. while wounded, he is not in danger of dieing - yet; now if i could get my hands on him, he'd be finding out he does not qualify for the virgins upstairs, but would be going to a far hotter place downstairs...

we now will have an expensive trial, where he will probably get of by pleading insanity, after all he should know he's nuts, he's a psychiatrist...

A psychiatrist pleading insanity won't even convince his own lawyer! he's toast.

He's also crazy, and psychos come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. There are Muslims, no doubt, who hate him too, especially Muslim soldiers, who apparently take enough grief, from both sides, as it is. Even Fox News is apparently disavowing the idea that he's a typical, Muslim soldier, and even Muslim scholars have dismissed the notion that this man had anything to feel guilty about. In fact, as you can see, they said it years ago, so the man has no religious excuse.

What the investigation is revealing is, that he has a long history of mental problems, and if he wasn't Muslim, he'd have taken another excuse to do the same thing. And if he'd grown up in the Middle East, he'd have killed Muslims, instead. He's damaged goods, by any name, and in any part of the world

There are apparently 1,164 Muslims in the Army, and the number who've been accused of anything like this, I can count on the fingers of one hand. Even if he is a "sincere" racist, I won't stoop to his level, especially given my own family's history of military service.

P.S. I wish the FOX article had a more credible writer than Geraldo, but then, you know their standards.....

Officer describes firefight that downed Hasan

One of two police officers who confronted the alleged Fort Hood killer says he shot Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan before kicking the man's weapon away, handcuffing him and ending the nation's worst killing spree on a military base.

Sgt. Mark Todd joined Sgt. Kimberly Munley, hailed as a hero for her actions, in a firefight with Hasan that lasted less than a minute. Todd was not wounded, but the exchange left Munley injured and Hasan critically wounded.
