This is a very little glimpse into a knife project I've been working on full-time for more than a year. It involves a "patent-pending" feature and I'm almost in a position to 'announce' it.
Very exciting!:)

(Those are bolsters, BTW)

Coming to fruition, eh? Great! Good for you, Joe.

whutdahewwizzat? IdunnowhutdatizImlookinat. Good going on that...thingy.

:) If it helps, here's my 'analog' approach to the same procedure--exactly the same job.

It's a fixture comprised of two Newport optical stages (Which work great for grinding fixtures, BTW). One is a linear stage, the other a rotary stage. You mount the bolster blanks (it takes two) and you push it into the belt to a micrometer-limited stop point, then swing in right and left on the rotary stage to get the radius.

your daughter is staring at that thing thinking "what in the world is that daddy?" HEHEHE!!! so when you going to teach her how to make a knife?

Thanks for the explanation. It all makes sense now. :D I think your "analog" method is pretty cool too.

She already has made a couple glass beads with mommy. It's funny to see her sitting there with these oversized didymium glasses, spinning a piece of hot glass over the torch.
