Batoning okra is fine, but I prefer stabbing bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños.
I've said it before, but I don't think anyone was listening, so I'll say it again:
BACON AND SAUTERNES IS THE BEST WINE PAIRING EVER....
surpassed only by Sauternes with bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños.
The salty, fatty bacon with the spicy jalapeños and the sweet wine is a combination that just can't be beat.
Recipe:
Jalapeños, halved and seeded, filled with cream cheese and wrapped in a third a piece of thin sliced bacon (half a slice with bigger jalapeños). Baked at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Serve with a nice Sauternes, appropriately chilled.
