This was the weather as we began our trip, not looking very good and they'd forecast it all weekend !
Within a couple of hours it had changed to this, things were looking up !
Although pretty cool when we arrived, it was at least dry and my Swannie kept the chills at bay~
Mrs Pit and the girls~
The race is on !
I opened our cabin door that night and found three raccoons up to no good, I managed to snap this poor pic of one of them as it scampered up the nearest tree. Still buzzing from her rat kill Snicker was desperate to get at the raccoons.....I don't think a match up like that would have fared her too well !!!
The next day I fueled up for a hike on bacon, sausage and beans....even the girls had some with their regular food !
Near the start of the trail~
Weather was a little cool again, made worse by lots of damp low cloud~
This time of year wild edibles are few and far between but I did come across lots of berries on the Arbutus trees. Although not the best tasting, these are still very edible~
I also found a few nice mushrooms~
This was my knife today~
I gave the girls a treat when we reached the top~
My treat was having the company of Mrs Pit !
Back at the cabin I prepped some fuzz sticks before heading out~
That evening we found an awesome British style pub, best steak I've had in years and also a great selection of British beers !
Back in the cabin all the activity was showing with Maisy !
The weather was pretty good again in the morning so we headed to a nearby beach~
The dogs were itching to get in the water !
Even in this urban area I found some wild edibles, these were some Shaggy ink caps growing on some parkland~
There were also many types of seaweed on the beach such as sea lettuce and other brightly coloured species~
Nice trip just a shame it wasn't for longer !!!!
