A little Vista help please

I'm having a problem with Vista that shouldn't be a problem at all. My screen saver won't come on. I went to "personalize" selected "screen saver" and chose what I wanted to use and set the time before it comes on.

It doesn't come on, changed the time to two minutes, let my laptop sit for five and the screen saver doesn't come on.

Is there a setting I might be missing?

TIA

Mine stopped working recently also,I wondered if it had anything to do with recent updates.I haven't tried doing anything with it yet.

It's probably tied in with your power profiles. Laptops usually have a couple of different power profile options like plugged in, performance, battery and so on.

If you've made these screensaver changes while plugged in, your profiles might be set to never go to screensaver.

Thanks,

I'll try making the changes with the laptop on battery power. I haven't messed with the power settings though.

Yes...deep within the power settings are individual controls...

Go to Personalize
then Screen Saver
then Change power settings at the bottom
then Change plan settings - under the plan selected
then Change advanced power settings

then go through and make sure none of the power settings are for a timeframe shorter than your screensaver.

I'm on a desktop right now...but it's nearly the same for my laptop (also Vista)...if I remember right...you can choose between plugged/unplugged power settings somewhere in the middle of the list above. Just make sure you get to the advanced power settings.

Best of luck!
