Today I went for a walk in the Alpine.North of town there is a road maintained to the mountaintop The reason for that road today is it goes up top for communication towers. There is a sweet little unknown trail that takes off from one switchback on the road and meets up with an old horsetrail that also led to the mountain top from the last century for mining exploration.Basically you can drive quite high upslope and be in the alpine very quick, saving many hours walking.A very nice cheat

Really great pics and a beautiful area. What's the elevation? It looks really high.

Thanks All
tknife the elevation is just over 6000 feet where I was walking- most mountains in the area are just under 10,000
