A lockback that doesn't fold?

I bought this because I'd never seen one before. Basically a small sheath knife, the blade is about 3" when in conventional position. But unlocking it the blade swings to make it a push dagger.

It's a production knife. Blade is marked Parker with and eagle and banner. Stainless steel. Sheath has a boot clip.

If anybody's got anything to add I'd be interested.

The blade is marked "Surgical Steel" and "Made in Japan". The bolsters are German silver (slightly yellow). The photo's are not the best, the lighting sucked, but it's a strange critter. I'd like to have one with those abalone scales. These are bone and not as attractive (to me).

I bet if you posted in Bernard's forum you'd get a ton of info. It's a nifty design...

Here is a recent thread with more info.

Parker was pretty big in the 80s (IIRC). They made ok knives.
morrowj_98 is right, Bernard Levine can help you.

Never saw one of those, but I did see a small blade that unfolded into a long blade. Same general idea. That was back in the late 70's, maybe early 80s.

That design has been around for years.
Some renditions of it fall into the "junk knives" category.
Some if not all of the Japanese Parkers were well made. IIRC there were other Parkers that may have been less well made.

I have a knife that locks in the full-open (to use as a conventional knife) as well as a 90 degree (for use as a push-dagger) positions. IIRC it may also lock in the closed position. Different type of lock than the OP's. Mine was made by CAS Iberia.
