Hey guys,

Wanted to show you all the spyderco military and do a little review on it. its a great knife with cpm S30v stainless steel and digi camo g10 handles. it has a 4" blade and is 9.5" overall, so its a little big, but I find it a great fit.
Thanks to riley for sending the Para trooper bag to me, love that thing!

I was lucky enough to recive this from my brother who bought it from warriors and wonders, probably the best site in canada, no doubt. Also I wanted to add, I havent experienced g10 untill now, and I have to say I was NOT impressed with it. It brought me back to the first time I handled a FRN handle endura at a local shop, I have to say it wasen't very reasuring feel wise, though the blade feels very well made.
It have come to like it a little more now, but I wasn't ready for what the g10 felt like, and its growing on me a bit. well see how it holds up. Another thing is that I was under the impression that the digi camo was dark, but this knife had a very light digi camo, and the handles were not translucent but they did have alot of light coming through them if that makes sense, in other words, I was unimpressed with the knife when I got it, but again, its been getting better, kinda the first time you pick up a BM 551 all you think of is plastic handles? come on.... but then you use the knife a while and you find out its not bad at all, which I think is what will happen with this knife.

So! to get on with it.
I had a little time to day, but was sore after pushing a young girl out of the ditch last night, so I went kinda slow and more less did the norm.
First, I had to chop up some of the ol x-mas tree.It was about 3" thick and took mabye two minutes.

Then, I had to split that sucker in too, I have to admit, the rc-6 split the crap out of that wood, its was notty and I didn't think it would go through. But it did,

Then, I split it up a little more and then did the shavings with the milie, it was awesome!

I have to admit this is the best cutter I have right now, the only knife that I did feel I needed to change the grind was this knife and a Revolver H. But the millie is much better, and so far the edge retention is awesome as well. The knife fits great in my hands, also works great while wearing gloves. It has a solid lockup, which is a liner lock. Again, so far the handles have held up great, and while working with the knife I found the are a little rugged than I had originally thought.

So, all in all I love the knife, its a beast to say the least, good steel, good geometry and overall well made, I will say though if you haven't used g10, I can guarentee it wont be what you think it is, however, I think you will come to like it.

Just another shot of the fire, with the moon sticking out in the back.

Thanks for looking guys, hope you liked'em.

Great pics! What is the bag in the latter pic with the RC6?

oohh, all my survival gear, goes with me every where. And yes that means to the shed. :D

I've got to do a full thread of that soon, its loaded up now, lovin that lunada!

Great review Fonly! I can't say enough about the Military. I've have three of them and and been carry them in my weak-side (left) pocket for Duty EDC over the past 12 years. The Military is a great design and works well in just about any camp chore I could think of for a smaller knife. I've recently started using the smaller Para-Military for civilian clothes EDC...another great little design.

Thanks for the review. The Military is IMO one the best, if not the best, all-around folders out there. It's also the only knife I have 4 of (2 in S30V, 1 in BG-42 and 1 in CPM D2). The longer you use it, the more you will come to love it.

I prefer the Paramilitary, a bit smaller and I love the compression lock. I want to like the Military, but I just find it a bit too big in my pocket...

Great review,I am looking at picking one up,I have a Blade tech Professional Hunter that is Bad *ss and I love it but finding them is so hard and the mil is the next closes thing and slightly cheaper...Thanks again for helping me spend me cash !!!

It is my favorite folder, got a BG42 on me now. They are cutting mochines!

I'm glad it's growing on you

It's my all time favorite spyderco knife. The one I currently have is the S30V model with black G-10 handles. I've had two others in the past but foolishly sold/traded them :(

You'll really start to like the G-10, it's some of the toughest stuff out there for a knife handle. Look up emerson knives and strider, they use just a slab of G-10 on their titanium locked knives. G-10 on one side and titanium on the lockside. It's very durable stuff, there's been a picture or two somewhere that shows a fork lift riding up and down two slabs of G-10 which were the sizes of 2X4's. Normally a forklift would break a wooden 2X4, so that's saying a lot :D
