But what about PD1 or Z-Wear? If it dropped the price would you still be in?

I absolutely love CruWear, but those two are quite similar if I'm not mistaken, and as a result I'd be very interested in trying them. To be honest though, I'm less concerned with price on a sprint run than I am with a regular production model...if price was that much of a factor I'd exclusively use the value series or even cheaper knives. If it's a few dollars I couldn't begin to tell you without trying both of those steels and seeing if I like them as much. If I like CruWear more after trying the other two I'd happily pay more for CruWear because I like it better. If they perform very similarly and are substantially cheaper I'd be interested for sure. I haven't tried the other two though so I can't really answer the question accurately, and I'd have to try them in a similar platform for relevant comparison purposes. My Schempp Tuff is going to perform differently than my Military even if the steels are the same. That means I'd need to try a Millie in PD1 or Z-Wear or possibly in a PM2 (Close to the same blade geometry) in order to know if I'm in or not. I'm all for trying new steels though so I'd rather have both of them to try out to compare to my CruWear offerings. My vote goes for all 3.

Do you have any reason or knowledge to think the price will be significantly different? I'm all for trying different steels, but know they are basically the same.

No. That's why I'd be good with the cheapest version. If that's cruwear, cool. If it's one of the others, it'd be just as good, better if they're cheaper.
