Ok, so it's not really a matched set so to speak. But they really seem to do the job.

Yes that is a Wetterlings Small Axe... all ten inches of it! If you can't figure out what the knife is, it will do you no good for me to type it out here.

The ESEE-4 is just a brilliantly versatile fixed blade it can do so much. The ten inch behemoth next to it is just wonderful so far.

God bless,
Adam

Very nice set indeed.

I was contemplating the Wetterlings you may just have sold me right there :D

Also what are these handle on the 4 ?

Cheers

ESEE 4 and a 10" Wetterlings called the belt axe :D

Actually Tony, that bad boy fits in my back pocket. There's only a wee bit of handle that even sticks above the pocket (less than 1/2".) But to be honest it'll probably get lashed to a pack or put in a pouch while I am out. My packs are all lumbar packs so it'd be in the way or inaccessible. Also it can fit in a Kifaru Admin pouch (the handle does hang out though so you have to twist the zipper pulls together.)

God bless,
Adam

So you use the hammer side of the axe to baton the 4 through...anything you want...what is the bladed side for? It just seems a little redundant :)

Nice combination pal. I hope it servers well.

Respectfully,
Ken

Ken,

I really don't know why Wetterlings sharpened that one side. I figured it would have been better to have two batoning surfaces, in case the one got too bad. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get a GB for that kind of quality.

God bless,
Adam

The Knife Connection is selling those, G-10 scales that cover the pommel.

Nice combo. Get a HEST folder and you've almost got a Nessmul thing going on there.

I do like those G10 scales, very nice!

Caudiasboris,

I have to admit ignorance concerning the "Nessmul thing." Care to enlighten me? As far as the HEST/f it looks like a sweet deal. Since my Izy I've become a really big fixed blade guy. That and I just don't have remotely that much money. If anyone would like to donate one to me I will happily carry it.

God bless,
Adam

Doh! Spelling error! I meant Nessmuk: George W Sears, who did a lot of canoeing, camping and general outdoorsy stuff in the late Nineteenth Century. He suggested that the best tools to take outdoors were a double-bladed axe, a small fixed blade knife (Nessmuk style, obviously) and a sturdy folder.

(Sorry if I'm doing the sucking eggs thing, or if I've got anything wrong).

Claudiasboris,

Thanks man, that helps clarify a lot. I'll have to check into the guy. He sounds interesting.

God bless,
Adam

If you check out Shotgun's avatar, it shows Nessmuk's threesome. I've just noticed it on the W&SS forum.
