I just got a knife on eBay that turned out to be very interesting. It is a 500, Duke, with engraving on the bolsters. On one side is a BSA (Boy Scouts of America) eagle and a name, Jesse D. Totten. On the other side is Troop 597 and a date, 12-14-93.

This looks to me like it might be one of the knives that Al Buck gave to new Eagle Scouts. There is a picture in the Buck book of Al and Chuck presenting a Duke to an Eagle Scout. Do you think this might be one of those presentation knives? I hope so. That would really enhance the knife for me.

yes Will i read that they did give out to BSA at one time and there is a picture in the able's Buck book i belive... i wish i could get 2 bucks with the BSA Eagle Scouts on them ... both my brothers boys made eagle!!! and all i could find was t-shirts! a eagle buck liter would be fantaskic!! there may be some leagle thing that keeps them from doing it ... who knows...

It sounds like an Eagle Scout knife for sure! Way back when, Buck would give a model 500 Duke to every Scout that made Eagle. It would have the Scout logo engraved on one bolster and the Scouts name and year of attaining Eagle status on the other. Over the years we had to modify that some and start offering them at a reduced price.
When the decision was made to discontinue the 500 :( , Chuck Buck told production to hold a bunch of them aside so he could continue the tradition. I wish my sons had stayed in Scouts long enough to earn one for their dear old dad!

This is really good news. I never got past First Class Scout, myself but those were great days and this really brings them back to me.
