Gents,

Well I was hand polishing some metalwork yesterday for a custom bolt rifle build and thought this would make an interesting post since I threw a BK14 project into the mix. Apologies in advance for the Pic quality it came off my cell phone which was all I had at the time..

The triggerguard and front action Screw Escutcheon are for a custom rifle I am building for a client. They were hand made in my shop. The BK-14 is the basis for a "Best Grade" version I have been thinking of for quite some time. Basically, the little Becker Neckers have a British heritage. They are miniature version of the blade profile on the BK-2 which is an Americanized and refined version of the British MOD knife. The lineage is clearly seen in the blade profile..

So I started to wonder what a stripped, polished (hand struck to a 400 grit finish) blade would look like if it were rust blued and then fitted with Alkinet root stained, marbled English walnut scales and all black fittings... Well, it would look like a Neck knife version of a "best grade" British rifle.

This is the start of the project. The blade has been stripped polished and was cold blued to check the look. The edge was also convexed and the thing cuts like a razor now. In the next two weeks, It will be stripped of the bluing and touched up prior to being slow Rust blued with the batch of rifle metalwork. In the meantime, got to get those scales milled..:D

Ooooooh this should be good. That sucker is gonna look nice after a nice hot soak. I'll be watching this one for sure.

Sorry for the delay in resoponding to your replies. They are much aprpeciated ..

Been busy in the shop completing the Classic stock pattern for the rifle metalwork.(it's been a "Wood Work Wednesday"LOL)

I already DID start the English Walnut grips for the BK14 as well. The first set is a bolt on set with Black oxide 6x32 Flat head socket screws and a .375" Carbon fiber lined Lanyard hole at the rear(think factory Eskabar Delrin only a bit classier)..

I may still go with permanent Epoxied scales and Solid Black 3/16" Micarta pins and Black lanyard hole liner..

In any case, the grips wil be two colors- Dark reddish brown English walnut and Black. Veddy British..
