I bet you though that Cold Steel couldn't do a micarta handled Trail Master.

In the 1990 movie "The Flight of the Intruder"

About 1/3 into the movie, before going off on their Ironhand mission, Brad Davis' character draws Wellem Defoe's knife and asks Do you know something I don't? That knife is a Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie.

Here's a picture of the factory made micarta handled trailmaster associated with the movie. This may have been a special production run put together for the movie's premier. Does anyone have any more information on these knives?

If memory serves this was a limited run of 500 knives. Handles were Micarta and blades were blued.

It has a slightly shorter blade than the standard Trailmaster, and the guard is, IIRC, steel instead of brass. They were offered through the "Special Projects" catalog. Always wanted to pick one up but never got around to it.

I remembered the grip being a solid phenolic rather than micarta though.

Ken,

the guard is steel and the handle may be something other than Micarta- it's hard to say, but the blade is the same size as the blade on my carbon V trail master.

Funny thing though,

They blued the stainless steel version (Japan) version instead of the carbon V model.
