Here is a knife that I walked by at blade that I had to pic up It was on a dealers table. What drew me to it was the very cool blue job on the blade guard and pommel. I had never heard of the maker and a quick call to STeven got me some great info and then a chat with Matt Lamey pushed me over the edge. Thanks STeven and Matt. From what I have gathered Mr. Veit spent time with Jerry Rados and his work is known to be super clean and show some great lines. Any more info on this maker would be much apreciated. I am no Coop and my pics do not do this blade justice my good camera is out for repair so I shot these with my fishing camera a little waterproof job. What my pics do not show is the near perfect blue job and when the blade is twisted in the light you can see a temper line with lighting like characteristics. The guard is robust and the strong right hand piece of stag with the skull crusher which is pretty robust balances pretty well with
the 9 3/4 inch blade. This is a take down knife and fit and finish is super clean. This blade probale will never see a sheath even one of P. Long's lined sheath's would I believe mar the blade. This knife in person is very cool looking and the blueing really looks great. I would like to see more of this makers work and I apologize for the bad photo's. I think this was one of the best deals at the show. thanks for looking

I got a chance to hold this at the Show (Thanxx, Joe!) and it IS simply incredible.:thumbup: What a piece!! Congrats on the score, brother!

Joe,

That's a great looking knife. It looked better in person. Nice score.

As you know Joe, I'm not too keen on blueing but it's a nice piece and you got a bargain.
The Rados influence can definitely be seen.
Outstanding stag as well. Congrats.

I got to see this knife at the show and Joe, that's a winner!!! Looks even better in person. Congrats my friend!

I also checked it out, and the blueing and finish is totally different in person. You'd never know what the blade really looks like from the photos alone. Nice knife.

really very beautiful it doesn't disfigure with the others your knives-Just opened the post I have immediately recognized that the bowie was of Veit, its knives have a personal and unmistakable line-First knife sold in 1985,Technical:forges damascus,O1,L6 etc..Patterns: fighters, bowies and daggers, all hidden tang knives have complete disassembly-it is also engraver-You has been considered always one of the best cutlers to the world it is very difficult to find her knives in the market of the used one ,who has them if it holds them narrow-You can find the photos of her knives in the knives annual and in the works of Jim Weyer-Veit e-mail whitebear@starband.net

I've long been a fan of Mr Veit's knives (well, in picture that is). Good find! They don't come up very often.

That's awesome Joe,

super clean bluing job, I did a blued blade for the first time about a year ago and quickly found that it can be VERY frustrating to get even coloring on the entire blade. But that piece just looks great.

Congrats, Joe. Beautiful Bowie!
Got a little question, Jerry Rados helped to teach Karl Andersen and Michael Veit, among others ?

Michael Veit had a lot of his knives in Weyers Knives Points of Interest books. He also made some beautiful folders. If I recall he did a "flame edge", on some of his damascus blades (ala Rob Hudson). I don't know what happened to him.

If you run a search, you'll see that there's been a couple threads on him. He actually responded to one once.

Thanks everyone for the info and pics. My photographic skills definately do not bring out the finer points to this blade.

That's a gorgeous knife and overall definitely your style. Enjoy!
