A mid-griptilian would be perfect!!

I bought a couple of mini-griptilians last year, and loved them. The size was perfect or so I thought.

Well I recently ordered a full size griptilian. It is as large as I expected, and I too love it as well. However, when fully folded up it's just a bit too thick / longish for my pockets, as I carry my flashlight and USB drive in the same pocket.

After playing / fondling / using the regular griptilian, I picked up my mini-griptilian. Much to my shock, the mini-grip felt too mini!!! I was like what is this? This mini-griptilian feels like a toothpick!!

So after carefully comparing the two, and playing with them, I've come to a conclusion - a medium size griptilian would be a perfect EDC. Not too large, not too mini.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my grip and mini-grip to death, but for EDC a mid-size would be just about perfect.

What do you guys think?

I found the 551 too bulky and the 556 too small for my hands. The solution for me was a Spyderco Stretch II.

....it's a well made folder and has earned high praise.....but frankly neither size of the Grip was the answer to my EDC needs.

To each his own....I find the Spyderco Native I to be much more comfortable in my hand....and pocket friendly; "all good just different."

That's the best idea I've heard in a long time. I like the mini, but it could be a tad small, as evidenced by hundreds of complainers here. And the full sized is definately too big. It is not pocketable. I would never by one.

So yes, the mid would be considered by me. I would probably by one or three.

Again, this is the best idea I've heard around here in a long long time. That said, Benchmade could care less about what we have to say or suggest, so I would just enjoy what they offer and by a Spyderco that fits your hand and pocket better. They do listen.

I've carried a 551 Grip for 3 years now (I think) and it feels and works right for me. No need for a mid size, I'd probably go with another knife as others have done.

If they put a finger choil on the mini griptilian, I'd be very happy. A longer but not wider version would be interesting.

However, it's really not a terrible size in-hand, even if it's just a 3-finger grip. Even better with a lanyard.

They packed a lot of blade into a compact package.

Check out the Native IV too. Surprisingly similar to a Mini Grip in compactness, shorter than the Delica folded, but puts plenty of handle in your hand.

...Of course, the handle is nothing like the Noryl GTX handle on the mini grip, but...

Where do you guys find pants with baby pockets?:D

I carry my 551 in my pocket with no problem.

I occasionally carry in the waistband at appendix. Maybe try that.
